For many student loan borrowers, student loan forgiveness seems like an elusive golden ticket to financial freedom.

For those that qualify, student loan forgiveness programs can be confusing and difficult to navigate.

What student loan forgiveness programs are available? How do you apply? Will you qualify? Will your student loans really be forgiven?

The good news is that there are multiple ways to have your student loans forgiven – partially or in full.

Here is what you need to know about student loan forgiveness:

1. Student Loan Forgiveness: The Status Quo

Today, the standard student loan repayment period is 10 years. However, the federal government created several income-driven repayment plans (including PAYE and REPAYE) to help make student loan payments more affordable for borrowers who cannot afford their monthly payment.

Advisors’ Opinion:

DryShips isn’t the only shipping stock that has skyrocketed this month; the following stocks’ shares are all up between 320 and 720 percent since November 2:

Diana Containerships Inc (NASDAQ: DCIX). Euroseas Ltd. (NASDAQ: ESEA). Globus Maritime Ltd (NASDAQ: GLBS). Sino-Global Shipping America, Ltd. (NASDAQ: SINO).

One of the primary reasons for the extreme moves in DryShips and other shipping stocks is a combination of large short positions in the stocks and extremely low share counts. DryShips in particular lowered its share count from around 672 million to only around 1 million via a series of reverse stock-splits throughout the year. The splits were intended to allow the stock to maintain its Nasdaq listing after it had lost more than 98 percent of its value in the first 10 months of 2016.

Top 10 Heal Care Stocks To Watch Right Now: Newmont Mining Corporation(NEM)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By James E. Brumley]

When most people think of gold mining stocks, names like Barrick Gold Corporation (USA) (NYSE:ABX) and Newmont Mining Corp (NYSE:NEM) come to mind. And well they should. Newmont Mining and Barrick Gold are a pair of the industry’s biggest gold mining outfits, and each has successfully leveraged their size to turn reasonably consistent profits even in tough environments.

At the end of the day though, Barrick Gold and Newmont Mining just don’t pack as much potential punch as the up-and-comers within the industry. It’s the small cap stocks and junior gold miners in this space that can pay off big-time for investors willing to get a little more speculative, and right now there’s not any junior gold mining name as compelling as an outfit called Taranis Resources Inc. (OTCMKTS:TNREF, TSX:TRO).

Taranis develops mineral deposits into mine-ready projects. Its primary project right now — and it’s enough to keep the company plenty busy for the next several years — is the Thor property located near Trout Lake, British Columbia. NI 43-101 resource reports (indicated and inferred)suggest Thor contains 6.9 million ounces of silver, 35,000 ounces gold, 57 million pounds of lead, 79.4 million pounds of zinc and 3.3 Million pounds of copper (roughly a 14 million ounce silver equivalent (“AgEq”) deposit*) laying in wait in a way that lends itself to the establishment of a low-cost, open pit mining operation. That’s roughly $300 million worth of marketable metals, and the estimates have been steadily getting bigger as Tanaris does more survey work.

And 2017 could be a real breakout year for Taranis, as a lot of the work that’s been done to date starts to mean something. It’s got big exploration plans for this year… this spring/summer to be exact.

The Phase 1 program was completed in September of last year, setting the stage for a more defined and much bigger Phase 2 definition-drilling within the next several weeks. This Phase 2 defi

The management team member who garners the most attention right now is Dave Mathewson, VP, Head of Exploration. Dave is a geologist with more than 35 years’ experience in the gold exploration space, and specifically, in Nevada. He is credited with a number of notable discoveries for Newmont Mining Corp (NYSE: NEM), and later went on to Gold Standard Ventures Corp (NYSE: GSV) helping take that company from a start-up to a now $481 million market cap.

NewmontMining Corp. (NYSE: NEM) reported fourth-quarter and full-year 2016 earnings after markets closed Tuesday. For the quarter, the gold miner posted adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.25 on revenues of $1.79 billion. In the same period a year ago, the company reported a loss per share of $0.03 on revenues of $1.82 billion. Fourth-quarter results compare to the Thomson Reuters consensus estimates for EPS of $0.33 and $1.79 billion in revenues.

Top 10 Heal Care Stocks To Watch Right Now: Amira Nature Foods Ltd(ANFI)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Another earnings short-squeeze prospect is packaged specialty rice and other food products distributor Amira Nature Foods (ANFI), which is set to release numbers on next Monday after the market close. Wall Street analysts, on average, expect Amira Nature Foods to report revenue of $132.37 million on earnings of 32 cents per share.

The current short interest as a percentage of the float for Amira Nature Foods is extremely high at 26.6%. That means that out of 17.70 million shares in the tradable float, 4.72 million shares are sold short by the bears. The bears have also been increasing their bets from the last reporting period by 8.2%, or by 356,000 shares. If the bears get caught pressing their bets into a bullish quarter, then shares of ANFI could easily rip sharply higher post-earnings as the shorts move fast to cover some of their trades.

From a technical perspective, ANFI is currently trending above its 200-day moving average and just below its 50-day moving average, which is neutral trendwise. This stock just recently bounced higher off some near-term support at $15.25 a share. That bounce is starting to push shares of ANFI within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade post-earnings.

If you’re bullish on ANFI, then I would wait until after its report and look for long-biased trades if this stock manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $17 to $17.98 a share and then above more resistance at $18.52 a share with high volume. Look for volume on that move that registers near or above its three-month average action of 174,102 shares. If that breakout develops post-earnings, then ANFI will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $19.86 to $20.29 a share, or even its 52-week high at $25 a share.

I would simply avoid ANFI or look for short-biased trades if after earnings it fails to trigger that breakout and then drops back below some key near-term supp
