Top 10 Bank Stocks To Own Right Now

Rick Rieder, global chief investment officer of BlackRock’s over trillion dollars in assets fixed income business, is as heavy a hitter as it gets in the bond market. But for an investing guru synonymous with debt markets, Rieder is extremely bullish on U.S. stocks over the next one-to-two years.

Presenting at the inaugural Forbes and Shook Research Top Financial Advisor Summit in Las Vegas, Rieder pitched America’s best wealth managers – who collectively manage over $1 trillion for millionaires and billionaires – on the promise hidden in U.S. stocks. Surprisingly, it is Rieder’s discipline in understanding money flows for bond investments that keeps him bullish on Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 Index, even as they touch new record highs.

Money, Rieder says, is about to get moving in the U.S. economy in a very major way and investors don’t understand how powerful this acceleration will be for equities. As the Federal Reserve begins to take interest rates off of zero, it is improving banks’ interest margins and accelerating the velocity of money in the U.S. economy. This money going to begin channeling into new growth initiatives, forcing companies to increase organic investment and research, providing an uplift to broader top lines.

Top 10 Bank Stocks To Own Right Now: Progenics Pharmaceuticals Inc.(PGNX)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

After meeting with the senior management team of Progenics (PGNX) , Valeant’s partner for oral Relistor, we continue to think that this drug would be a good addition to Valeant’s GI (gastrointestinal) franchise. The PDUFA date for oral Relistor is 7/19/16. AlthoughValeant is leading interactions with the FDA, Progenics is highly confident regarding an approval in July based on its discussions with Valeant. Progenics believes that oral Relistor could be a $1B+ opportunity for Valeant, even with the recent decrease in opioid usage. For context, we estimate ’16 sales of $9.9B for Valeant. An approval for oral Relistor would also help remind the Street that Valeant’s brand drug pipeline is underappreciated, in our view. We think pipeline advancements for brand drugs could drive multiple expansion forValeant shares (on P/E).

When Weatherford International (WFT) announced that it had named Halliburton (HAL) CFO Mark McCollumits new CEO, its shares jumped as some observers contended itincreased the odds of an acquisition by the oil-services giant.
