The S&P 500 advanced 0.3% to 2,190.15 today, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 59.58 points, or 0.3%, to 18,636.05. The Nasdaq Composite gained 0.6% to 5,262.02.
The dollar was moderately lower on Friday, with many investors avoiding major moves ahead of Donald Trumps inauguration speech later in the day.
