Three minutes of frantic trading in Treasuries futures just offered a stark reminder of the danger of betting against the world’s safest asset.
What was shaping up as a second straight day of losses in Treasuries on Thursday, with 10-year yields threatening to hit the key psychological level of 3 percent, turned around in a hurry as turmoil in emerging markets spooked global investors.
Shares ofClean Energy Fuels Corp.(NASDAQ:CLNE) surged as much as 22.7% today, before losing a little steam in afternoon trading. As of 12:20 p.m. EDT, shares were up 13.6% in very heavy trading. At this writing, more than 5 million shares have traded hands, about five times the average volume for the company’s stock.

Wall Street on Monday didn’t just cash in on one winner, or a daily double, or even a trifecta. It notched astock market-style superfecta, with all four major U.S. stock indexes — representing blue chip names, technology stocks, small caps and large-company stocks — all closing at record highs on the same day for the first time in 17years.
A recent survey from Accenture showed that 26% U.S. consumers have had their personal medical information stolen from technology systems, and half of those who experienced a breach were victims of medical identity theft. On average, those victims had to pay around $2,500 in out-of-pocket costs per incident.
