The Q4 2016 earnings report forsmall cap Yelp Inc (NYSE: YELP) is scheduled forafter the market closes onThursday (February 9). Yelp Inc was last inour SmallCap Network Elite Opportunity (SCN EO) portfolioin August 2015with our SCN EO newsletterhaving this to say:

There’s no question YELP has recently fallen out of Wall Street favor, but if you consider they’re the still the biggest social rating player consumers use to patron businesses across the country and abroad, one still has to respect the efforts of an early pioneer. They’ve innovated something never seen before, and when you consider social media is no fad, and that it’s here to stay, it’s select stocks like YELP with still over $300M in cash on the books that should end up at least offering much higher levels down the road YELP has a tremendous database of businesses and consumers, one that is arguably worth a heck of a lot more than Wall Street might be giving it credit for, so if you’re willing to park some money here, I think at the very worst the Company has gotten down around levels that make it an extremely attractive takeout target. As a matter of fact, when you have a technical look at the stock, there’s a pretty strong argument someone with extremely deep po ckets has decided to step in and pick up an enormous position in YELP. I’ve included a daily chart of the stock below. There’s no question the chart is ugly. However, look at the massive amount of volume the stock traded on the heels of the Company’s recent earnings debacle.

invest penny stocks: Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (SSNLF)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

All of China’s many Android brands will be impacted, but none more so than the current market leader, Huawei. It now dominates the high-end Android market in China, even more so with Samsung’s (OTC:SSNLF) recent woes. The Pixel will be priced to compete directly with Huawei’s flagship models.

  • [By Leo Sun]

Sony’s profitability has declined in recent quarters due to the weak performance of its mobile and movie making units. However, the stock trades with an EV/Sales ratio of 0.5 — making it very cheap relative to peers like Samsung (NASDAQOTH:SSNLF), which has anEV/Sales ratio of 1.

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

Quite often, companies apply for patents and then never pursue them as products, so there’s no guarantee this will go anywhere, but in light of Samsung’s (OTC:SSNLF) very well executed Galaxy S8 Dex mode, I’m convinced this will become an increasingly attractive personal computing option.

According to comments by Universal Display CEO Steve Abramson, Samsung (NASDAQOTH:SSNLF) is pouring $9 billion into building OLED production facilities this year. LG Display (NYSE:LPL) expects more than half of its 2020 revenues to come from OLED panels. The OLED TV market is expected to grow sixfold in the next four years, and the lighting panel market is only just getting started.

Some of the management and investment lessons that we can learn from the exploits of NXP Semiconductors are:

Market share does not translate into profit share. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is a great example where their market share in the smart phone market is lot less compared to the likes of Samsung (OTC:SSNLF), but they garner 80% of all the industry profits. There is likely to be more consolidation in the semiconductor industry given the low concentration ratio (Also, read more on this topic here – Market Concentration). NXP teaches us the importance of understanding revenue and operating income of individual business units and learning about macroeconomic trends. Be decisive, as Warren Buffett would say, don’t dawdle. And, never let a crisis go to waste.

invest penny stocks: URS Corporation(URS)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Fidelty’s John Mirshekaritook a look at URS(URS) today at the Value Investing Congress. His takeaway: The stock could double in two years.

    Agence France-Presse/Getty Images

His analysis started with URS’s use of its free cash. During the past, it hasn’t been pretty. They spent 6.3 billion on eight acquisitions, they’ve bought companies at valuations higher than own stock and return-on-equity has dropped from high teens to just 6%.

The problem hasn’t been its business: Its return on tangible capital is 17%. Instead, the problem is that its management hasn’t maximized value through capital allocation. URS has lowest valuation: 9x 2013 cash earnings in its industry.

Part of the problem: Management incentives are based on net income. This year, however, relative total shareholder return was added., something Mirshekari calls”a step in the right direction.” In May, URS filed an amended proxy which says it will look to change incentives from net income to return on equity and earnings per share. More importantly, it said acquisitions would end.

If all goes right, URS could double in two years,Mirshekari says, comparing it to AECOM Technology (ACM).

Looks a lot like AECOMM, which did something similar and rallied.
