After Avon was the worst performing stock in the HPC group in 2015 (down nearly 60%), Avon has been the best performing stock in our coverage universe year-to-date in 2016 (up ~65%). While we have no explanation specifically for the recent strength in the stock (and especially heavy trading volume), we think there are several factors that help explain why the stock has out-performed the market so handily so far this year, above and beyond the fact that the stock entered the year at an awfully depressed price. Specifically, Avon now seems to be more of an investable name than it had been previously, owing to (i) refinancing of debt has allayed bankruptcy concerns, (ii) investment by Cerberus has boosted confidence in managements execution-ability, (iii) the sale of the U.S. business has eliminated a previous drag to profits, (iv) the relative stabilization of U.S. dollar has tempered f/x headwinds, and (v) AVPs organic sales growth trends improved to ~+4% YoY in 1H16.

It is estimated by the CDC that the Zika virus could infect more than 25% of the population of Puerto Rico by YE16.The study will evaluate safety, immunogenicity and early signs of efficacy in preventing Zika infection. Very strong results across the board for Dycom, with spending from its top customers only further accelerating. We’re not surprised that FQ3 guidance came in slightly ahead of expectations, as many investors had viewed their initial guidance as conservative. We are encouraged to see organic growth re-accelerating in FQ4 to the mid-teens, with its acquired Goodman asset contributing $15MM of expected revenue (up from $13.4MM in FQ2). Dycom also procured new customer awards in the quarter from AT&T (T), Comcast (CMCSA), CenturyLink (CTL) and Windstream Holdings (WIN) to support further growth.
